BE GRATEFUL!
(Mummy Rose was seen drinking cassava flakes (gari) early in the morning in her living room)
MUMMY ROSE: Rose! Bring me a toothpick (she called out to her daughter as she finished with her food)
ROSE: Here it is ma (she gave her the toothpick and she started picking her teeth with it)
MUMMY ROSE: Thank you, Lord, for today o. I may not have enough food at home but I thank you for this. Provide for those who have nothing to eat in Jesus name (she prays as she picks her teeth. She heard a knock and stood to open the door) Ah! My friend, you are welcome. Come in and have your seat (she said witch a huge smile)
MAMA CHIDI: Thank you. Ha, ha! You dey enjoy o (she said with a blush as she saw her hanging the toothpick on her mouth)
MUMMY ROSE: Na so o (she blushed) abi e no good as I dey make myself dey happy?
MAMA CHIDI: But na wetin you chop that you dey pick your teeth? Abi no be gari I dey see for your front?
MUMMY ROSE: Yes nah! That was what I took (she shrugged her shoulder and continued picking her teeth in a funny way)
MUMMY CHIDI: Early in the morning? (She asked with her mouth agape)
MUMMY ROSE: I have no other choice than taking it.
MUMMY CHIDI: Hmm (she mumbled)
MUMMY ROSE: See, if you continue thinking of wetin dey happen around you, you go kill your happiness. Na me fit make myself dey happy and i fit do am in any way and anyhow I like. Na this way I choose do am today (she said with a grin)
MAMA CHIDI: (Thought) God, I am sorry for being ungrateful. I have #1000 naira with me and I came to borrow #500 from my friend to add to it, so that I can buy meat because I am tired of taking fish, and here I met her rejoicing and happy that she could drink gari early in the morning! Hmm, God forgive me, I beg!
MUMMY ROSE: Mama Chidi! (She called her to jolt her out of her thought)
MAMA CHIDI: (She whirled around) Oh, I am sorry. Make I dey go, I wan reach market (she said as she unwrapped the #1000 she was holding) take this (she gave her #500 from it)
MAMA ROSE: Why? (She asked surprisingly)
MAMA CHIDI: Just take it, I am sure you will need it (she said smiling)
MUMMY ROSE: Ah, thank you so much! (She said excitedly as she collected it from her) Chukwu ngozi e gi (God bless you)
MAMA CHIDI: You are welcome (she said with a blush as she leaves)
THE END!
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
